Rush Street Interactive recently announced that BetRivers will eventually provide an online poker room, adding to its online casino and sportsbook. Rumours that RSI would be rolling out a multi-players poker room first came out when the company acquired the RIO (Run It Once) poker broadcast and school early March this year.
Rush Street also made another purchase of Poker Night in America, a tv show that features cash games and sit & go action. The show airs nationally on the CBS Sports Network and reportedly cost approximately $2.2 million in cash and $2.7 million in RSI stock.
What this means for Ontario-based players is that BetRivers will likely be adding online poker into its repertoire in the near future. The site already has the needed licences to provide poker and will likely use a poker room as a cross selling opportunity to bring players to the sites sportsbook and casino platforms as well.
Entering the online poker market in North America isn’t an easy feat and top sites like Pokerstars and BetMGM have already taken a large position in the industry. This is why the acquisitions of RIO and Poker Night in America could make all the difference. The brand should be able to leverage some of the marketing for both ROI and Poker Night in America to shine a spotlight on the BetRivers Poker Site, which in turn could lead to funnelling into the casino and sportsbook.
