After initially suggesting they would stay in the unregulated market, Canadian owned and operated Sports Interaction has gone live after being provided with regulatory approval from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario. The brand acquired an igaming license which allows the site to provide legal sports betting and casino gaming to players over the age of 19 who are physically located within the province (check Sports Interaction referral code for new customers).
Sports Interaction was taken over by Entain PLC earlier this year, but Mohawk Online operates the sportsbook in Canada. Entertain also owns other popular Ontario regulated brands such as Party and Bwin as well as a joint venture with MGM Resorts, BetMGM.
Sports Interaction is a little late to the party after the regulated Ontario sports betting and igaming market went live on the 4th of April this year. SIA joins over 20 other popular online sports betting operators, in one of the most competitive markets in North America. What the brand does have going for it is over 20 years of serving only Canadian customers, giving them a stellar reputation within the province.
Another key to entering the Ontario market is SIA’s partnerships with professional sports teams from Canada. The brand has been linked with many popular teams including the CFL Ottawa Redblacks, the Edmonton Elks, and the National Lacrosse League’s Toronto Rock. One of the most recent and biggest partnerships was an agreement struck to become an official sportsbook partner of the NLL.
Sports Interaction Account Migration
If you have already signed up for a Sports Interaction account before the site launched with a AGCO license, you will have the option of migrating your old account. This can be done by visiting the SIA Ontario website and following the migration instructions when attempting to sign up. Customers who migrate their account will be able to bring all their personal details and account balance with them to their new Ontario account.
About Sports Interaction
Sports Interaction has been accepting bets in Ontario since its inception back in 1997. The site is governed by Mohawk Online, which is a socio-economic initiative wholly owned by the Mohawk Council of Kahnawake. The brand was acquired by Entain Plc, a U.K.-based company, in February of 2022, who also owns popular sports betting site Bwin and is a half owner of BetMGM. Both Bwin and BetMGM are also part of the regulated Ontario sports betting market.
While primarily started as a sports betting site, SIA also offers customers the chance to play online casino games. This includes both a video casino section and live dealer section. Players will have the option of using one integrated account to both bet on sports and play casino games without having swap.
